‘House of Lucas’ features the fashions, people and production methods which shaped this iconic business.

A Pantomime - Jack & the Beanstalk

The proprietors of the Victoria Theatre proudly present ‘Jack & the Beanstalk’, a good old-fashioned Christmas pantomime where you can boo the villain, cheer the hero and rest assured that, in the end, good always triumphs and everyone lives happily ever after. Be warned, it’s all very, very silly!

Sly Grog Hunt

When the gold rushes began, the government banned the sale of alcohol on the goldfields - in case it made the thousands of diggers too hard to control. But, many people defied the law and sold ‘grog’ as it was called, on the ‘sly’ - including the police themselves! See one particular Sly Grog search in action!

Underground Mine Adventure Tours

Ride the Inclined Tramway deep into the gold mine on an amazing underground adventure like no other!
Fully-guided tours must be booked on the day (Be early. Places are limited). Children under 5 free, but need a ticket. Ask about wheelchair access at the Gold Mine Ticket Office. For deaf and hearing-impaired visitors, ‘The Secret Chamber’ is available as an OpenAccess tour using Auslan translation and captions. Enquire when booking your tour.
